It was just the other day that we shared the news with you guys that the feature adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER now has a quick running time of just 95 mins. Today we have not only the director's thoughts on this aspect of the film, but we also have the film's rating!
The MPAA has officially rated Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER PG-13 for "thematic material including sequences of gun violence and action"
Wait! Before you get all up in arms, this isn't a bad thing. I anticipated this. It means the film has a better chance at mass appeal, meaning we may get R-rated sequels and a darker, more violent TV series. It's all good. I have faith this will work – for now.
Now, as mentioned above director Nikolaj Arcel has some thoughts of the film's running time. He took to Reddit to address these issues and here is what he wrote:
This film really serves as an introduction to the saga and I've always felt that we should not try to cram every single part of the massive mythology, including all the great characters and storylines, into one film. Obviously, the story is supposed to continue in future films and the TV series. Hopefully, at the end of it all, there won't be a single thing from the novels that we haven't touched upon in some way.
So there you have it, THE DARK TOWER is officially rated PG-13 and the running time is a tight 95 mins. Now, all we need to do is see the damn film already! I know I'm counting down the days. How about you? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
