The CW, already home to Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and iZombie, continues to show a dedication to being in the horror television business. Not only are they developing a FRIDAY THE 13TH series that would bring Jason Voorhees to the airwaves, they've now closed a deal with production company Midnight Radio to bring some other familiar horror faces to the small screen. The type of characters you might find in 1800s Transylvania.
Written and executive produced by Hugh Sterbakov, The CW's Transylvania will be set in 1880.
A headstrong young woman in search of her missing father ventures from NYC to Transylvania where she teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective, and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history.
I'm interested in seeing how this will turn out. It sort of sounds like it could be a different take on the basic idea behind Showtime's Penny Dreadful.
Consisting of Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, and Scott Rosenberg, Midnight Radio is also behind CBS's "nature run amok" series Zoo.
