This past weekend we witnessed the release of the latest entry in THE CONJURING UNIVERSE with director Corin Hardy's THE NUN starring Demian Bichir and Taissa Farmiga. And with all this talk of sequels to spin-offs in this horror franchise, just what the hell is going on with the third entry in the flagship THE CONJURING series?
Well, producer Peter Safran recently sat down with our buddies over at Cinema Blend and talked about just that, with the producer saying THE CONJURING 3 is on the horizon, for sure.
Producer Peter Safran:
It's actually coming along great. David Lindsay Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.
The original film was directed by James Wan and began
In 1970 with paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren who are summoned to the home of Carolyn (Lili Taylor) and Roger (Ron Livingston) Perron. The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house's macabre history.
I'm always up for a third entry in THE CONJURING series no matter how many spin-offs we get. The main reason for this is because the flagship series is really about Ed and Lorraine and I will watch Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga go back and forth for years. I say bring on THE CONJURING 3, 4, 5, and THE CONJURING… IN SPACE! as long as Wilson and Farmiga return.
