Netflix's hit series STRANGER THINGS has only put out 2 solid seasons thus far, but its interworkings could make a long-lasting series already. And what better (and cheaper) way to explore all of the potential side-stories and spin-offs than in novel form? Yes, today we have word that Netflix has teamed up with Penguin Random House on a worldwide publishing deal for books based on the series. The first titles will be hitting us this fall, and today we have some info on just what those titles will be.
The first STRANGER THINGS book on the way will be a behind-the-scenes companion called Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-The-Scenes Companion. And the second as-yet-untitled book will be a hardcover gift book for young readers that will offer "advice, wisdom, and warnings from the Stranger Things world."
Following those up will be a Stranger Things prequel novel, written by author Gwenda Bond. It will center around Eleven’s mother and the MKUltra program. Bond says we’ll see Terry’s’ “intersection with the MKUltra program” and that we’ll “get to know and love her in a whole new way." She also says that she’ll be coming up with an "epic 60's and 70's-themed playlist to accompany it."
It's about Eleven's mother Terry and her intersection with the MKUltra program and you're going to get to know and love her in a whole new way. I'm SO EXCITED.

The Stranger Things books will initially release under the U.S. and British Commonwealth publishing teams of Del Rey Books, Random House Children’s Books, Cornerstone Publishing, and Penguin Random House Children’s UK, with additional territories and imprints to follow. Audiobook editions will be published by Penguin Random House Audio.
Additional titles for both adults and young readers will arrive later in 2019. Bond’s prequel novel will be available next spring.
