Strange first teaser for Ryan Gosling’s Lost River, starring Matt Smith

Last week we brought you some new stills from Ryan Gosling's directorial debut LOST RIVER (formerly HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER) and judging from what we saw, this is going to be one strange film. This is further solidified by the first teaser which features star Matt Smith wanting you to 'look at my muscles'. It's very weird, indeed, and hints that Gosling has picked up a few things from working with his DRIVE and ONLY GOD FORGIVES director Nicolas Winding Refn and THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES helmer Derek Cianfrance.

We're most certainly intrigued by this project and can't wait to hear the word out of Cannes on how it plays.

Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while Bones, her eighteen-year-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive."

LOST RIVER also stars Ben Mendohlson, Saoirse Ronan, Matt Smith, Barbara Steele, Ian De Caestecker and Eva Mendes. Warner Bros. will release the film at some point this year.
