Back in 2003, writer/director Stevan Mena made his feature directorial debut with the slasher MALEVOLENCE. Now that MALEVOLENCE 3: KILLER is set to reach VOD/DVD/Blu-ray in October (the second film in the series, the prequel BEREAVEMENT, was released in 2010), this Halloween season would be the perfect time to revisit the film that started it all – so it's quite appropriate that MALEVOLENCE will also be getting a new release this October.

This new release will be bringing MALEVOLENCE to a format it hasn't been available on before: Blu-ray. For the creation of the Blu-ray, Mena oversaw a brand new HD transfer of the original 35mm negative with cinematographer Tsuyoshi Kimoto.

Starring Samantha Dark, R. Brandon Johnson, and Kevin McKelvy, MALEVOLENCE has the following synopsis:

It's ten years after the kidnapping of Martin Bristol. Taken from a backyard swing at his home at the age of six, he is forced to witness unspeakable crimes of a deranged madman. For years, Martin's whereabouts have remained a mystery…until four bank robbers, on the run from the law, meet up at an abandoned house to split up the loot. They thought it was the perfect plan. They were dead wrong.

The MALEVOLENCE Blu-ray will be available on October 12th, and below you can take a look at its cover art and a trailer that shows off how impressively pristine the HD transfer is.
