More and more every day I find myself looking forward to the upcoming feature film adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER more than (almost) any other flick on the schedule. Other than IT. I mean everything I've heard and seen from the film thus far has rubbed me the right away.
And as if I needed anything else to guide my gun towards the tower, today we have a special tweet from Mr. King himself which not only reveals the running time for THE DARK TOWER – at a brisk 95 minutes – also comes with the tag that the studio would be INSANE to not include on the film's final, final poster.
Here is his tweet:
It's true THE DARK TOWER movie runs a clean 95 minutes. Like the first book in the series (224 pages), it's all killer and no filler.

Now while I'm about 76.5% sure that this line is the title of a SUM 41 album I think I knew back in high school, King is taking it back with this quick review of sorts.
But all "rad" turns of phrasing aside, the meat of this post is that THE DARK TOWER will run a tight 95 minutes – which for those of you who aren't great with time-math – equal to 1hr. and 35mins.
And considering the books are (for the most part) word count monsters, King is right to point out that the original THE GUNSLINGER novel is short as hell… for a Stephen King book.
What do YOU think of such a relatively short running time for THE DARK TOWER? Do you think the film can be done proper justice in a mere 5,700 seconds? Let us know what you think on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
THE DARK TOWER film synopsis:
There are other worlds than these. Stephen King's The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world's most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.
THE DARK TOWER is directed by Nikolaj Arcel and stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick, and Abbey Lee.
THE DARK TOWER hits theaters nationwide August 4th.
