Shining prequel, The Overlook Hotel, inhabited by Walking Dead’s Glen Mazzara

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

THE SHINING is so hot right now. ROOM 237, a fascinating look at Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, is available right now on VOD, and King himself has recently penned a sequel to his book, DR. SLEEP, which is coming out this fall. Add to that a prequel film in development at Warner Bros., which we last told you about in July of last year, is now moving forward with a high-profile writer attached.

Glen Mazzara, who was the showrunner on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” second and third seasons before departing the show earlier this year, is in talks to write THE OVERLOOK HOTEL. Obviously, no plot details are available at this moment, but anyone familiar with hotel’s creepy backstory can create their own assumptions…

It’s more than likely that King will not be involved with this prequel, as he’s notoriously critical of Kubrick’s film.
