Resident Evil reboot release date confirmed for September

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I remember watching the first Resident Evil movie for my birthday, and enjoying it for what it was, but still disappointed that it didn't really follow the games all that much (which is ironic, seeing as – since it was acting a sort-of prequel to the series – the first film was by far the most faithful to canon out of the other live-action sequels).

Luckily, it seems that the newest Resident Evil film reboot will supposedly hue closer to the original games, and recently just got an official release date: September 9, 2021, so we'll find out soon enough how accurate it really is.

Not only that, but it will also reportedly feature characters from the game as the actual protagonists (rather than bystanders to Alice's shenanigans), as actor Robbie Amell – who's playing fan-favorite Chris Redfield – posted a fun picture on his Instagram story:

Meanwhile, Resident Evil is directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down).

So what do you guys think? Fans of Resident Evil? If so, looking forward to the new film? Either way, sound off below!
