Richard Bates Jr. is following up his horror/comedies EXCISION (pictured above) and SUBURBAN GOTHIC with TRASH FIRE, a comedic take on psychological thrillers.
Production recently wrapped on the film, which was shot in Los Angeles and centers on
a man forced to confront his past when he and his girlfriend end up entangled in a web of lies, deceit and murder.
Adrian Grenier and Angela Trimbur star as the man and his girlfriend, with the supporting cast including Fionnula Flanagan, Sally Kirkland, Ray Santiago, Ezra Buzzington, Molly McCook, EXCISION star AnnaLynne McCord, and Matthew Gray Gubler, who was in both of Bates' previous films.
I haven't seen SUBURBAN GOTHIC, but I have caught bits and pieces of EXCISION, a film which got Bates a lot of attention from the horror community and appeared to be quite gross and disturbing. Bates seems to be an interesting filmmaker, so I intend to catch up on his work soon.
TRASH FIRE is produced by Lawrence Mattis and Matt Smith of Circle of Confusion and David Lawson Jr. of Snowfort Pictures.
