2015's GOOSEBUMPS was a decently fun meta take on R. L. Stine's popular series of children's horror books, and while it didn't rake in JURASSIC WORLD box office numbers, it did alright for itself. In fact, it did alright enough to clear a path for a sequel, which Sony is officially moving forward on.
Director Rob Letterman and writer Darren Lemke are closing deals to return, and naturally want Jack Black (who played R. L. Stine himself, as well as the villainous Slappy the ventriloquist dummy) back. There's no word on the return of teen stars Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush, though their contracts may in fact obligate them to return.
This sequel will hopefully give the team a chance to shake out the kinks from the first film, delivering a truly exemplary interpretation of Stine's work and filling in the gaps on some of the memorable creatures that were snubbed in the first film, including Monster Blood, the Creeps, and the Haunted Mask.
