The demonic nun who creeped out audiences with her appearance in THE CONJURING 2 is back in her own movie, a spin-off that promises to be "the darkest chapter" yet in the steadily growing CONJURING universe.
Appropriately titled THE NUN, this one was directed by THE HALLOW's Corin Hardy, working from a screenplay crafted by James Wan and ANNABELLE / ANNABELLE: CREATION's Gary Dauberman. The story begins when
a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, with a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret and confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun from “The Conjuring 2.”
Taissa Farmiga (sister of THE CONJURING's Vera Farmiga) stars with Demian Bichir, Bonnie Aarons, Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hope, and Ingrid Bisu.
If the nun got to you in THE CONJURING 2, she should do the same for you in the trailer below, because this is all about setting up how damn creepy she is, even sticking a character in a dark tunnel with her in the end.
THE NUN looks like another solid entry in the world of THE CONJURING, and I'll definitely be seeing it on the big screen, the same as I have every other film in this franchise. Once set to reach theatres next month, it's now scheduled to be released on September 7th.
