Penny Dreadful teaser shows its demons

Aside from FX's upcoming adaptation of Guillermo del Toro's "The Strain", I don't think there's a show I'm more excited for than Showtime's "Penny Dreadful". Everything we've been hearing about the show so far sounds exactly like the kind of series that's geared towards horror fans as it features some of horror's most iconic characters. The teaser for the show released today and it's surprisingly dark—which comes as a welcome surprise. It only clocks in at 30 seconds, but it's 30 seconds of Eva Green being taken over by demons! It's about as awesome as I could have hoped for and I think you guys are really going to get a kick out of it. THE ORPHANAGE director Juan Antonio Bayona is behind the lens of the first two episodes so at least we know this one will get off to a solid start! Dig it below.

The show stars Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Hearry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani.

The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.

"Penny Dreadful" was written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan and executive produced by Logan's Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes and Neal Street's Pippa Harris. The Show will have 8 episodes and will start shooting this fall in London and will air in 2014.
