New thriller The Occult attracts Rufus Sewell, Anne Heche & Roommate director

Looks like we’ve got a newly announced horror/thriller on our hands, courtesy of producer Mickey Liddell and his Liddell Entertainment eave (THE GREY). The flick is called THE OCCULT, and has not only attracted stars Rufus Sewell (right), Anne Heche (below) and newcomer Alycia Debnam-Carey, word is THE ROOMMATE director Christian E. Christiansen is interested in the material as well. Fancy that!

According to Variety, THE OCCULT follows a small commune on the verge of witnessing an age old prophecy, that predicts the coming of the devil’s daughter, come to fruition. As the shared eighteenth birthday of five girls approaches a sequence of murders causes panic to spread through the community making those to wonder whether the prophecy is coming true or someone is silencing those that known too much…

Sounds like a pretty cool Hammer Films premise from 40 years ago. While reading that synopsis I saw visions of Christopher Lee spouting hambone lines with force. Brute force. Who knows, maybe dude’ll land a cameo…he’s still alive, right?

THE OCCULT commences production in North Carolina later this month. Until we hear more, let us know how you like of the project so far.
