New stills & poster for Pacino’s return to horror in Hangman w/ Karl Urban

It has been a long time since Al Pacino has graced our beloved genre with his presence. At least in a good movie that is. I'm thinking back and the last time Pacino killed it in the horror genre was way back in 1997 with the Keanu Reeves/Charlize Theron flick THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE, where Pacino played the f*cking devil with great aplomb.

That said, you could say that this new flick HANGMAN, co-starring Karl Urban, and hottie Britney Snow (see below; natch), is more in line with 88 MINUTES, and/or RIGHTEOUS KILL, than straight horror, but we're all pretending those flicks didn't happen so let's move on.

The new Pacino flick follows a homicide detective (Pacino) who teams up with a criminal profiler (Urban) to catch a serial killer whose crimes are inspired by the children's game Hangman. Now, I can't help but look forward to this flick as I am a fan of all three major actors involved and I am an optimist where it comes to serial-killer thrillers.

HANGMAN synopsis:

“Decorated homicide detective Ray Archer (Al Pacino) and his partner, criminal profiler Will Ruiney, (Karl Urban) are tasked to catch one of the city’s notoriously vicious serial killers who is playing a twisted version of murder using the child’s game… HANGMAN, while crime journalist Christi Davies (Brittany Snow) reports on the crime spree, shadowing the detectives.”

HANGMAN is directed by Johnny Martin based on a script by Michael Caissie, Charles Huttinger, and Phil Hawkins and stars Al Pacino, Karl Urban, Sarah Shahi, Brittany Snow, and Joe Anderson.

The film has yet to get an official release date.
