New Predator: Hunting Grounds game tracks down a new gameplay trailer!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

THE PREDATOR has had a rocky relationship with videogames. For every ALIEN VS. PREDATOR arcade or PC game, there's the sluggish PREDATOR: CONCRETE JUNGLE (that was set in the 30s?) or the truly piss-poor PREDATOR Amiga games. Hopefully IllFonic and Sony's upcoming shooter – PREDATOR: HUNTING GROUNDS – will be more the former than the latter, which

is an immersive asymmetrical shooter set in remote areas around the world, where the Predator stalks the most challenging prey. Play as a member of an elite Fireteam and complete paramilitary operations before the Predator finds you. Or, play as the Predator to hunt the most worthy prey, choosing from your vast array of deadly alien tech to collect your trophies, one by one.

The game will essentially be similar in gameplay to the other asymmetrical multiplayer game based on a 80's horror icon, FRIDAY THE 13TH. In it, one player can play as the Predator – with all the weaponry and skills that entails – while the other players play as a team of four humans. Now, while the humans may not have the sci-fi weapons, invisibility, strength, or durability of the Predator-player, they at least have numbers on their side, and can presumably win by not even killing the Predator.

And the trailer itself looks pretty cool! Despite the unfortunate dubstep, it's awesome to see all of the Predator's badass gadgets in the game (especially that cool metal disk slicing dudes up) and even some new ones (like a f*cking Predator bow-and-arrow!) And hey, female Predator! Cool! However, it unfortunately does look like the human side of things might play a little too much like a standard FPS; though, I imagine dealing with a living, breathing Predator will help make it feel fresher than your average COD clone.

Meanwhile, PREDATOR: HUNTING GROUNDS opens up to PS4 and PC April 24th. However, if you pre-order it now, you can get bonus in-game items at launch inspired by the original movie, such as an exclusive ‘87 Predator Skin, and early access to the “Ole Painless” Mini-Gun.

So what do you guys think? Look fun to you? And is PREDATOR: CONCRETE JUNGLE really that bad, or should I give it another shot? Etiher way, sound off below!
