Last week, we brought you the trailer for director Josh Boone's upcoming X-Men horror movie THE NEW MUTANTS. I don't know about you, but I was significantly impressed with the direction of this new flick.
Which is a good thing considering it seems that NEW MUTANTS is only the first in a planned trilogy of horror movies set within the X-MEN corner of the Marvel universe.
Director Josh Boone dropped the news to IGN in a recent interview, telling the site that each of the other films will examine the mutant world through a different sub-genre of horror.
Josh Boone on NEW MUTANTS horror trilogy:
We brought it to FOX as a trilogy of films, really all based on that long run by Sienkiewicz, and kind of incorporates some stuff from later issues in the '80s.
These are all going to be horror movies, and they're all be their own distinct kind of horror movies. This is certainly the ‘rubber-reality’ supernatural horror movie. The next one will be a completely different kind of horror movie.
Our take was just go examine the horror genre through comic book movies and make each one its own distinct sort of horror film. Drawing from the big events that we love in the comics.
New Mutants looks a bit like FX's LEGION at the moment, but I have faith it will be fresh. Seems like fun to me! What do you think of this Marvel horror trilogy? Let us know below or on social media.
NEW MUTANTS synopsis:
A diverse cadre of teens are learning to cope with their superpowers. These new mutants find themselves held in a secret facility against their will and must battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past.
NEW MUTANTS is set to hit April 13, 2018.
