Natives, Sex, and Blood

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

Now I haven’t heard of POCAHAUNTUS until now, but it sounds like a film I’d love to see! According to IMDB, the synopsis is: The ancient spirit of Pocahontas returns to take grizzly revenge for the massacre of her people. And a quote from producer Molly Celaschi reads: “exploitation. There is sex, gore and something to offend everyone,” she says. “Some people may be upset over the portrayal [of Pocahontas], but the film doesn’t really show the best side of the white people either, whether it was with drugs, sex, betrayal or more sex!”

Needless to say, I’m down. Tahl Gurl Productions will be releasing this one sometime this winter, it’ll also be premiering at SiliCon in San Jose, California. (it runs October 5-7). The film was directed by Veronica Craven and written by Barry Ratcliffe. It stars Stephanie Basco, Eliza Swenson, Kate Melia, Juls Bindi (below), Tasha Dixon, Lisa Allen, Jessica Havilk, Cory Knauf, Larry Laverty, Chris Angelo, and Barry Ratcliffe. Craven had this to say to Fangoria about the film:

“It’s the first, and therefore the greatest, Native American exploitation movie ever! Some people may be upset over the portrayal [of Pocahontas], but the film doesn’t really show the best side of the white people either, whether it was with drugs, sex, betrayal or more sex!”

Who doesn’t like sex? Honestly? Anyway, if you want to check out some stills or more info on POCAHAUNTUS, you can check out the official MySpace over here. It’ll be looking at a DVD release date sometime this winter.
