It's no secret I'm both super hype for the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot…as well as apprehensive about the addition of Lewis Tan's non-game character Cole Young (cringe flashbacks of Resident Evil's Alice come to mind…) Nonetheless, the movie is coming out soon, and ahead of the release Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have released some TV spots showing off some new footage, which you can watch one at the top of the article!
Here's the official synopsis:
A washed-up mixed martial arts fighter named Cole Young is unaware of his hidden lineage or why he is being hunted down by Sub-Zero of the Lin-Kuei clan of assassins. Concerned for the safety of his family, he seeks out a clique of fighters that were chosen to defend Earthrealm in a high-stakes battle against the forces of Outworld in a inter-dimensional fighting tournament that occurs once in a generation. Appearances to be made by Shang Tsung, Goro, Jax Briggs, Sonya Blade, Kano, Scorpion and more fan favorites!
Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat – directed by Simon McQuoid and starring Lewis Tan, Josh Lawson, Jessica McNamee, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Joe Taslim – will get over to HBO Max and select theaters April 16!
So what do you guys think? Looking forward to the reboot? Either way, sound off below!
