It seems like it was just the other day that we were reporting (seemingly endlessly) on the sixth entry in the TREMORS series. And today we already have word – via franchise star Michael Gross aka Burt Gummer himself – that Universal has not only officially given the green light to TREMORS 7, but that he is all signed up and ready to return. Gross took to Facebook to let us all in on the killer news, writing:
Tremors fans will be delighted to know I have just agreed to the terms of a contract for a SEVENTH film. My best estimate is that Burt Gummer will begin his hunt for Graboids and other nefarious forms of wildlife in the fall of 2019.
Even though I wasn't a super fan of the last movie in the series, TREMORS will always hold a special place in my horror heart. I was nearly devastated when it was announced the Kevin Bacon TV series was abandoned, but it's nice to know that Gross and Universal are still keeping the franchise alive at the movies. Cheers, guys!
The previous entry in the series TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL followed this synopsis:
Burt Gummer suspects that giant worms are being utilized as weapons at a research facility in Canada. He soon finds himself in a race against time to create an antidote from one of the creature's venom to save his own life.
The sixth film was directed by Don Michael Paul from a screenplay written by John Whelpley. Mike Elliott produced and the movie starred Michael Gross, Jamie Kennedy, Tanya van Graan, and Jamie-Lee Money. As you can see above, Gross says that he guesses we'll all be able to partake in more Graboid goodness come fall 2019. But we'll let you know once we hear more on the release. Until then, you can always check out our review for TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL right HERE, and then head on over to Amazon and snag yourself a copy of the sixth film on Blu-ray RIGHT HERE.
