M. Night Shyamalan might have had some major missteps over the past few years (I'm looking at you AFTER EARTH and THE LAST AIRBENDER!) but we've always held on to hope that the man who once brought us THE SIXTH SENSE and the excellent UNBREAKABLE would return to form with another great film as I'm sure he's got at least one more surprising idea in him. Now it seems as if the SIGNS director is dialing things back for his next film as he's been quietly shooting a microbudgeted flick titled SUNDOWNING.
We don't know much of anything about SUNDOWNING other than the few small tidbits we've gathered from his Twitter account, but there are rumors that this small budget film could be right up our alley being a microbudgeted genre film. It has also been noted on the M. Night Fans website that Shyamalan has hired Darren Aronofsky collaborators costumer Amy Westscott (BLACK SWAN, THE WRESTLER), production designer Therese DePerez (BLACK SWAN) and the French cinematographer Maryse Alberti (THE WRESTLER) to work on the film. Very interesting, indeed.
What could Shyamalan be planning with SUNDOWNING? We'll be keeping an ear to the ground for news regarding this one as we're intrigued. Let's hope he can deliver something worthwhile once again.
