BEWARE SPOILERS
During a recent interview, Michael Fassbender referred to the creature in ALIEN as a “Neomorph” – which could have just been a word mix-up, as he meant to say “Xenomorph”. However, the folks over at AvPGalaxy have said that there is a reason why “Neomorph” would come to Fassbender’s mind. It’s because the creatures in the upcoming PROMETHEUS sequel / ALIEN prequel ALIEN: COVENANT are indeed called Neomorphs, and they have the information on how these monsters differ from the Xenomorphs we’re used to. They infiltrate people’s bodies in a different way, through spores released by pods rather than Facehuggers from eggs; once incubated, they burst out of people in different areas of the body, not just the chest; and they look and move differently.
The look of these Neomorphs may now have been spoiled in a batch of images the website So, Is It Any Good received from someone who visited the set.
Despite the rumors of spores, there is a Facehugger among the creatures in these pictures, and wow… that picture of the Facehugger sure does look obscene. We’ve also got some eggs in here and some Space Jockey tech.
Directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, ALIEN: COVENANT has the following synopsis –
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
The film stars Fassbender, reprising the role of David, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, and Noomi Rapace.
We still have a while to wait before we can see ALIEN: COVENANT’S creatures in action. The movie is scheduled to be released on August 4, 2017.
