The upcoming Paramount/Platinum Dunes film A QUIET PLACE is one that I am both intrigued by and wary of. I'm feeling wary because I've been burned by the recent spate of arthouse-style horror offerings that are thick with atmosphere but end up being a whole lot of build-up to absolutely nothing. This looks like some of those movies to me. One that immediately comes to mind is IT COMES AT NIGHT, which A QUIET PLACE shares a "family hiding out in the wilderness after the apocalypse" set-up with.
I'm hoping that A QUIET PLACE will be more eventful than some of these other movies have been, but it's hard for me to work up much hype for something that's showing me little more than people being scared while staying quiet.
Directed by John Krasinski, who also co-stars in the film with his wife Emily Blunt and rewrote the screenplay that was originally written by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, this one has the tagline
If they can't hear you, they can't hunt you.
Also in the cast are Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds.
Two new promos for A QUIET PLACE have been released and can be seen below. One's the usual TV spot, while the other has Krasinski talking about his film.
Produced by Platinum Dunes, A QUIET PLACE is scheduled for release on April 6, 2018. All of its secrets will be revealed in just over two months.
