Killer Klowns From Outer Space gets the “requel” treatment in 2012

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Not a sequel, and not a prequel…ladies and gentlemen it’s a “requel.”

Anyway, that’s how the Chiodo brothers are describing their new KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE addendum, which has picked up quite a bit of steam since writing about the project this past June. Word is the film will be a “remake-sequel,” or “requel,” and may very well enter production sometime in 2012.

At last glance, actor Grant Cramer spoke about getting a distribution deal as the next step in the long arduous process. Now, a Facebook page for the film has been developed, and even has an August post celebrating good distribution meetings. All this bodes well for the films imminent production, which will most likely keep the 3D format we originally noted. For his part, Cramer said he’ll “be the mentor to the two new young leads that have to try save the world from the Klowns when they return.”

The 1988 original went like this:

When a small town is invaded by aliens from outer space who are capturing and killing the townspeople, no one takes them seriously. Why? The aliens all look like circus clowns, use weapons that look clown like, and all have painted on smiles. Only a few of the young people in the town realize the danger and of course no one believes them. Armed with an ice cream truck they try and rescue their friends.

Alright so what do we think? We in favor of a 3D KKFOS “requel”? Is there any way it can capture the magic of the original?
