Kiersey Clemons

Kiersey Clemons, who had a breakthrough role in the film DOPE and has played recurring characters on the shows Extant and Transparent, is the latest to join the cast of Niels Arden Oplev's remake of the 1990 film FLATLINERS.

Written by Peter Filardi and directed by Joel Schumacher, the original FLATLINERS has the following synopsis:

At University Hospital School of Medicine, a group of ambitious medical students are about to die… and live to describe the experience.

Embarking on a daring and arrogant experiment, the five aim to push through the confines of life and touch the face of death.

In their search for knowledge, however, the five discover the chilling consequences of daring to tamper with immortality.

SOURCE CODE's Ben Ripley has written the screenplay for this new take on the material.

Clemons joins a cast that includes the previously announced Ellen Page, Diego Luna, and Nina Dobrev. Her character is said to be "a young medical student struggling to endure both the rigors of her workload and the overbearing mother with whom she still lives."

Production on the FLATLINERS remake is expected to begin in early July, and I'm interested to see what this version of the film will do with Filardi's concept.
