Mike Flanagan, director of the Stephen King adaptations GERALD'S GAME and the upcoming DOCTOR SLEEP, and Josh Boone, who will be directing the new mini-series based on King's The Stand, have both expressed interest in taking the helm of an adaptation of King's 2006 novel Lisey's Story. Now an adaptation is in the works, and while neither Flanagan or Boone seem to be involved with it at this point, it's still in good hands.
J.J. Abrams' production company Bad Robot, which previously brought us the King projects 11.22.63 and Castle Rock, is producing an eight episode Lisey's Story mini-series for Apple, and King himself is writing all eight episodes.
Julianne Moore is set to star in this "deeply personal thriller" as Lisey, who we're introduced to
two years following the death of her husband. The story explores a series of events that causes her to begin facing amazing realities about her husband that she had repressed and forgotten.
The producers are now looking for "high profile directors" to direct episodes of the show… I'm sure Flanagan and Boone would be willing to step in, if they have room in their schedules.
King, Abrams, and Moore are executive producing Lisey's Story with Bad Robot's Ben Stephenson.
