James Wan is a busy man. On top of producing or directing pretty much every horror movie that came out this summer, he's directing DC's AQUAMAN, directing the pilot of CBS' MacGyver reboot, and producing MORTAL KOMBAT for New Line. Naturally, something has to take the backseat and KOMBAT drew the short straw. Says Wan:
It's still cooking away… The key here is to try and do it right. I don't want to rush into it. So right now, we're just trying to take our time to make sure it's heading in the right direction. I think that's more important than trying to rush through it and pump up something that no one likes.
KOMBAT fans should rest assured that the movie is coming. But the dude needs a break, am I right? When it arrives, MORTAL KOMBAT will be the first film in the franchise since 1997's MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION.
