Is this a raptor from Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Looks like we’re starting the week off with a little bit of dino rumors as we may or may not have our very first look at a velociraptor from Colin Trevorrow’s JURASSIC WORLD. While we have no way of telling if this is indeed for JURASSIC WORLD, it's worth noting that the picture was uploaded to Instagram from Valencia, California, home to Legacy Effects who are the folks working on the film.

The below picture was posted by an Instagram user with the tag:

This is an actual Velociraptor for the upcoming film Jurassic World! #jurassicworld #dinosaur #universalstudios #StevenSpielberg #Velociraptor #HYPE

Sweet #hype, bro.

While the picture only reveals the face of the raptor, it looks pretty authentic to the films that came before it and the green skin color is a very cool touch. But the most exciting thing about this picture (if it's the real deal) is the simple fact that it means we'll at least be seeing some practical effects going on in the new film. Which is—to me anyway—some exciting shit. Animatronic dinosaurs blended with today's CGI will be ridiculous as hell and I can't wait to see them tear shit up on the big screen. Again, though, the raptor you see here could be for just about anything, so take this with a grain of salt will ya?

JURASSIC WORLD stars James DuMont, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio and Irrfan Khan. It will land in theaters on June 12, 2015.
