First three clips from Refn’s Only God Forgives are violent, visually stunning

One film that we’ve been super-stoked about is Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES, a revenge-fueled violent ride that reunites Refn with his DRIVE star Ryan Gosling and is set to premiere at this years Cannes Film Festival. There is no doubt that the buzz surrounding this film is strong and we can only hope that translates to box office bank. We’ve been covering this film for quite some time and are excited to share the first three clips, courtesy The Playlist.

The first clips for the film focus on the three main characters in the movie played by Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas and Vithaya Pansringarm. We’ve had a glimpse of these scenes before in the red-band trailer and now you can see them in full below.

Bangkok. Ten years ago Julian killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty. When Julian’s brother murders a prostitute, the police call on retired cop Chang – the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughter’s murderer, then ‘restores order’ by chopping off the man’s right hand. Julian’s mother Jenna – the head of a powerful criminal organization – arrives in Bangkok to collect her son’s body. She dispatches Julian to find his killers and ‘raise hell’.

ONLY GOD FORGIVES will drag you into theaters by your mouth on July 19th, 2013.
