One of the biggest mysteries around ALIEN: COVENANT (among many thousands of locked-tight details) is just what the hell Danny McBride is doing in the film. The actor is known mostly for comedy, so his appearance in this serious Ridley Scott picture is mighty intriguing. Although, this isn't unprecedented for Scott, who found a role for Kristen Wiig in last year's THE MARTIAN.
This newest image from the set clears up a tiny slice of that confusion, depicting Scott on the bridge of a spaceship directing McBride, in the first look at his character from the film. It's dark and it's only a profile shot, but he certainly looks like he belongs. Check it out below!
Written by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, ALIEN: COVENANT has the following synopsis:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
COVENANT went into production several weeks ago with a cast also including Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, and Benjamin Rigby, with Fassbender back in the role of David. Noomi Rapace has reportedly just arrived on the set to likewise reprise her PROMETHEUS role.
The movie is scheduled for release on August 4, 2017.
