Like many of you, one of my favorite horror-comedies of all-time is writer-director Fred Dekker's NIGHT OF THE CREEPS starring Jason Lively, Steve Marshall, Jill Whitlow, Allan Kayser, and Tom Atkins. Yesterday, I had the honor of sitting down with Atkins and we talked all things horror. And he revealed that Dekker is planning NIGHT OF THE CREEPS 2 with the original cast.
Specifically, Atkins revealed:
I would like to see Detective Ray Cameron become resurrected somehow. And Fred Dekker and I, every time we see each other, we talk about that. And he's determined to do a sequel with the three kids and myself. I mean they're no longer kids, they're all in their 50's, but they're all still kicking and healthy and looking good. I would love to do that again. I love Detective Ray Cameron.
Hell, yeah! Hollywood, with all of your reboots and re-imaginings and whatnot, this is what the people want to see. I guarantee it. Someone (I'm looking at you, Shudder) needs to get on this ASAP. In the meantime, read our full interview with genre legend Tom Atkins HERE.
For those of you that might not know, the original NIGHT OF THE CREEPS flick centered on:
Fraternity pledges (Jason Lively, Steve Marshall) who pull a prank with a frozen body and let sluglike creatures loose on campus.
Written and directed by Fred Dekker NIGHT OF THE CREEPS was produced by Charles Gordon and stars Jason Lively, Steve Marshall, Jill Whitlow, Allan Kayser, and Tom Atkins. TriStar Pictures unleashed it back on August 22, 1986. Buy it on Blu-ray RIGHT HERE. How excited would YOU be to see THE MONSTER SQUAD writer-director Fred Dekker's NIGHT OF THE CREEPS 2 with Jason Lively, Steve Marshall, Jill Whitlow, and Tom Atkins?
