Nicolas Winding Refn's THE NEON DEMON was reportedly booed at Cannes, which would seem to indicate that the director has delivered another hotly divisive film. But really, is there any other way for him to operate? For those of us who don't have the privilege of attending the film festival, we've received a new clip from the film.
A quiet, methodical piece following Elle Fanning's audition for a modeling agency, it's certianly easy to see why people might find it frustrating. However, it evokes the feeling of being put on display in a way I don't think I've ever seen before, so I'm still on the hook for his intriguing, well-composed entry in the Refn filmography. Check out the clip below!
When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.
Alessandro Nivola will play a fashion impresario who taps Elle Fanning as his muse. THE NEON DEMON also stars Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks, Abbey Lee, Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote and Karl Glusman.
THE NEON DEMON will arrive in theaters, all shiny and chrome, on June 24th.
