Don’t Breathe sequel has been filming! It’s a wrap for star Stephen Lang

Soon after DON'T BREATHE (watch it HERE) was released back in 2016, director Fede Alvarez and producer Sam Raimi revealed they were planning a sequel. Raimi said Alvarez's idea for DON'T BREATHE 2 was "only the greatest idea for a sequel I've ever heard." Then we were left to wait for years as they slowly got around to pushing it into production. At the start of this year, it was announced that Alvarez's DON'T BREATHE co-writer Rodo Sayagues would be making his directorial debut with DON'T BREATHE 2, which was scheduled to start filming in April… But when the pandemic hit, those April plans went out the window.

Thankfully, DON'T BREATHE 2 was only slightly delayed by the pandemic lockdown. Star Stephen Lang took to his Twitter account to confirm that not only has the sequel been filming, it has been filming for long enough that he's wrapped!

In case you don't recall, the first DON'T BREATHE told the following story:

Rocky, Alex, and Money are three Detroit thieves who get their kicks by breaking into the houses of wealthy people. Money gets word about a blind veteran who won a major cash settlement following the death of his only child. Figuring he's an easy target, the trio invades the man's secluded home in an abandoned neighborhood. Finding themselves trapped inside, the young intruders must fight for their lives after making a shocking discovery about their supposedly helpless victim.

Scripted by Alvarez and Sayagues, the sequel is

set several years after the home invasion of the first movie, with the Blind Man living in quiet solace… until his past sins catch up to him.

Our friends over at Bloody-Disgusting managed to dig up a synopsis that has a bit more detail. It says

the Blind Man has been hiding out for years in an isolated cabin and has taken in and raised a young girl orphaned from a house fire. Their quiet existence is shattered when a group of kidnappers show up and take the girl, forcing the Blind Man to leave his safe haven to save her.

I'm not sure about that story idea, because the Blind Man was a repugnant monster in the first film and I'm not enthusiastic about a sequel that turns him into someone we're supposed to be rooting for. I'm still very curious about this project, though.

There's no word on who is in the cast with Lang, but we'll let you know when that information is revealed.
