Documentary The Mothman Legacy gets October release date

To be honest, I wasn't familiar with the legend of the Mothman before the release of the film THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES in 2002, but judging by posts I've seen on social media that movie was not the pinnacle of the legend's popularity. I'm seeing references to the Mothman all the time – and on October 20th I'll have the chance to learn more about this thing, as that's the day 1091 will be releasing the documentary THE MOTHMAN LEGACY on digital streaming platforms.

THE MOTHMAN LEGACY was directed by Seth Breedlove and completes his Mothman trilogy, as it's a follow-up to TERRORS IN THE SKIES and a direct sequel to 2017's THE MOTHMAN OF PLEASANT POINT. Produced by Adrienne Breedlove, the documentary tells the story of 

one of the most frightening American urban myths, the legend of the Mothman, a red-eyed creature seen by some as a harbinger of doom in 1960s rural West Virginia, where sightings of the winged demonic beast were first documented near an old munitions dump known by locals as TNT.

Many believe the Mothman to be a 1960s phenomenon, an omen only appearing before tragedy, and disappearing after a flap of sightings and the subsequent Silver Bridge collapse in 1967. But what if there’s more? What if the origins of this omen trace back much further and go much deeper than anyone realized? And what if… the sightings never ended?

Breedlove said that 

the crew and I believe we’ve created something truly unique with this project; a terrifying real-life horror story, and a case study on the roots of a modern myth. Featuring interviews with witnesses of the Mothman, alongside experts, authors and locals, this is a story that was begging to be told and we’re anxious to unveil this untold chapter in the mountain states monstrous past."
