While fans still hold on to hope that we'll someday see another season of the Hannibal television series, CBS is continuing to move forward with their Clarice TV show, which will serve as a sequel to THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (watch it HERE). Written and executive produced by Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman, Clarice is
set in 1993, one year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs. It tells the personal story of FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington, D.C.
Rebecca Breeds plays the title character, and it has previously been announced that her co-stars will include Kal Penn as Emin Grigoryan, "an agent with a Ph.D. in library science"; Michael Cudlitz as Paul Krendler, "leader of the VICAP Fly Team"; Nick Sandow as Murray Clarke, "Clarice's chief hazer"; Lucca De Oliveira as Tomas Esquivel, "who attended Dartmouth on an ROTC scholarship and became a counter-sniper during Operation Desert Storm"; and Devyn A. Tyler as Ardelia Mapp, "Clarice's closest friend and her roommate at the FBI Academy".
Now it has been revealed that four more roles have been cast. The new additions are Marnee Carpenter as Catherine Martin, "who was saved from Buffalo Bill's basement by Clarice"; Jayne Atkinson as Ruth Martin, "the newly appointed attorney general and Catherine's mother"; Shawn Doyle as "Clarice's therapist at Quantico"; and Tim Guinee as Novak, "the leader of a secessionist militia group".
Carpenter has series regular status, while Atkinson, Doyle, and Guinee have recurring/guest roles.
Elizabeth Klaviter serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Lumet, Kurtzman, and Heather Kadin. Aaron Baiers is co-executive producer. Clarice is coming to us from MGM Television and CBS Studios, in association with Secret Hideout.
Clarice could be interesting, here's hoping it will turn out to be a good show.
THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS was based on a novel by Thomas Harris. You can pick up a copy of the book at THIS LINK.
