While news of the new FRIDAY THE 13TH movie becomes more and more dismal, updates on Friday the 13th: The Game only get cooler. This new video shows behind-the-scenes footage of Kane Hodder in a stylish mo-cap suit, tearing through campers in some excellent Tom Savini-designed kills. You also get a bit of test animation showing how the kills will be brought to life through the graphics of the game. There's a healthy smattering of classic kills, new ones, and even a little bit of HATCHET madness thrown in. Check it out below!
Says Kane Hodder:
We spent five days shooting the motion capture for Friday the 13th: The Game, and I loved every minute of it. It really wasn't that different from working on the Friday the 13th films. I brought the same energy and brutality to the character. When I played Jason in the films, all of that intensity, all of the rage, was observed passively by the audience. Spectators to a linear story. But this is different. Very different. The audience becomes the participant as they step into my boots. You're not simply watching me, you are me…you are Jason.
When you swing the machete, it's exactly how I swing it. When you behead or impale a counselor, it's not a generic animation. It's my actions of strength and power that you wield. That's what excites me most about this project. Fans ask me all the time 'What's it like being Jason?', and for the first time in history, they get to experience that.
What FRIDAY THE 13TH fan didn't just get chills right now?
Friday the 13th: The Game is an online, asymmetric multiplayer experience where one player will assume the role of Jason Voorhees against seven other players assuming the roles of camp counselors trying to survive the night.
