Cannes Bits: Magnolia seals ABC’s of Death 2 deals, The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears and The Last Showing make sales

Lots of exciting news has been coming out of Cannes this week and this morning is no different as we have some cool sales/deal news to share with ya regarding several films we're looking forward to checking out ourselves, so let's jump right to it, shall we?

Screen Daily is reporting that Magnolia International has closed key sales in Cannes on the upcoming horror anthology THE ABC's OF DEATH 2 (which we first told ya about HERE). Magnet Films plans a 2014 release in the US and Monster Pictures will distribute in the UK and Australia, Mor Films in Turkey and Mono Film in Thailand. Directors will include Álex de la Iglesia, Rodney Ascher, Bill Plympton, Erik Matti, Lancelot Imasuen, Kristina Buozyte, Bruno Samper, Sion Sono, Vincenzo Natali and Larry Fessenden.

Screen Daily is also reporting that UK outfit Metrodome has pre-bought giallo-style thriller THE STRANGE COLOUR OF YOUR BODY'S TEARS (which we last told ya about HERE) from Bac Films. Writer-directors Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani’s (who helmed the fun "O is for Orgasm" segment from THE ABC's OF DEATH) follow-up to cult genre hit AMER, which Quentin Tarantino listed as among his favorite films of 2010, stars Klaus Tange, Jean-Michel Vovk, Sylvia Camarda, and Sam Louwyck and has the following synopsis:

“The surreal drama follows a husband who plunges into a world of nightmare and violence while searching for his missing wife.”

They also report that Simon Crowe’s SC Films has picked up sales rights to The Philm Company’s thriller THE LAST SHOWING (which we first told you about HERE), which Phil Hawkins writes, directs and produces alongside producer Alexandra Baranska. Production is due for July 2013 on the project, which is casting now. THE LAST SHOWING centers on…

a recently demoted projectionist who traps a young couple inside a cinema with plans to use the CCTV cameras to create his own horror film.
