While talking to BD to promote the Sundance premier of his feature debut, THE OREGONIAN, writer/director Calvin Reeder revealed that he is trying to make his 2008 short, THE RAMBLER, into a feature film. Anchor Bay is already on board, but more buy-ins are required to fund the project. Here’s what he had to say:
“[Anchor Bay] want to come in and help. They’ve only been able to provide some of the funding or whatever, but we can’t seem to find the rest of it just yet… It’s not really an expanding of the short, but a lot of those parts are in it. It just kind of starts with The Rambler getting out of jail, and he kind of follows this somewhat episodic and sometimes very psychedelic journey. It’s hard to explain, just like everything else [of mine] I guess.”
Reeder has apparently been trying to get the feature off the ground since before THE OREGONIAN but decided to set it aside in favor of an easier project. We will keep you updated. In the mean time, you can watch the original short – in which Reeder stars as the titular character – below.
