BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE and its sequel BILL AND TED'S BOGUS ADVENTURE were both rated PG, but the third film in the series – the upcoming BILL AND TED FACE THE MUSIC – will be the first in the series to be PG-13 according to the MPAA, due to "language". This honestly isn't too surprising, as standards were a bit more…lax in the late 80s/early 90s when the first two BILL AND TED movies came out (in fact, the PG-13 rating itself had only been around for a few years by the time the first film came out), and – in case you forgot – there are some really unfortunate slurs in the original films that aren't as acceptable now.
Regardless, the film should still be fun for the whole family like the first two films (in the same way the similarly PG-13 STAR WARS and MCU films are), and I'm still looking forward to it! Here's the official synopsis:
Once told they'd save the universe during a time-traveling adventure, 2 would-be rockers from San Dimas, California find themselves as middle-aged dads still trying to crank out a hit song and fulfill their destiny.
Meanwhile BILL AND TED FACE THE MUSIC – directed by Dean Parisot (GALAXY QUEST), and starring a returning Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter – is still set to be released August 14th…but we'll keep you updated if things change.
So what do you think? Any fans of the BILL AND TED series? If so, like what you've seen so far? Either way, sound off below!
