Ash vs. Evil Dead season 2 will be spending a lot of time mucking about in the past. Our titular hero Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) will be returning to his hometown of Elk Grove, and for the first time we'll meet his father (Lee Majors) and childhood best friend (Ted Raimi). But that's not all! We'll be seeing the return of Ash's long-lost sister, Cheryl!
EVIL DEAD fans will remember Cheryl as the first of Ash's friends to get possessed way back when in 1981. She might have perished from this earth, but in this universe, death is but a minor inconvenience. Cheryl will be played by returning actress Ellen Sandweiss, who has worked with Campbell and Raimi multiple times over the years, in projects including MY NAME IS BRUCE and OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.
Says Campbell:
Well, it's all street cred. It's like fried pork rinds to the fans. Like, 'Ah, that's Cheryl! S***! She's back!' I think it'll freak them out, and that's the idea.
She will only make "a tiny little guest appearance, [causing] a little commotion," but this nod to the original, classic film is certainly appreciated. I can't say I'm a fan of fried pork rinds, but I definitely dig this idea.
Here's the short synopsis for Season 2, returning this October:
The second season roars back into action with Ash leaving his beloved Jacksonville and returning to his hometown of Elk Grove. There, he confronts Ruby. The former enemies have to form an uneasy alliance as Elk Grove soon becomes the nucleus of evil.
Ash vs. Evil Dead also stars Lucy Lawless, Dana DeLorenzo, Michelle Hurd, and Ray Santiago.
The show returns to Starz this October!
