Army of the Dead: Tig Notaro spotlighted in new still from zombie flick!

So, I admit I wasn't too excited about Netflix's upcoming zombie heist flick Army of the Dead from director Zack Snyder (2004's Dawn of the Dead), even more so after actor Chris D'Elia was accused of sexual misconduct by several women after filming had finished. But then Snyder cast comedian Tig Notaro to digitally replace the actor (ala Christopher Plummer replacing Kevin Spacey in Ridley Scott All the Money in the World), which definitely piqued my interest in the film for the first time, as I'm a huge fan of hers. And now we got our first solo look at the actress in character – thanks to Entertainment Weekly – which you can see for yourself at the bottom of the article!

Here's what Snyder said about the change in actors during post-production:

It was the best thing to do not just for the property, but for respecting humanity and people and decency.

And here's what Notaro had to say about the project:

My agent called and told me that they wanted me for the film and I said, 'Oh, okay, cool, so they're looking at a few people,' and she said, 'No, they want you,'" Notaro recalls. "And I said, 'Oh, that's really interesting,' because it's not my typical role. I've done Star Trek: Discovery, but I've certainly never been in an action film.

It felt a little daunting…but Zack basically just told me it's a sarcastic, comedic role and said he wanted me to do exactly what I do — which is good because I always tell directors, when they walk up to me to give me direction, 'Before you say anything, just keep in mind that I have no range.'

However, she's great in Star Trek (despite my misgivings on the new series as a whole), so I don't think she – or we as an audience – have much to worry about.

Finally, here's the official synopsis for the film itself:

Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

Meanwhile, Army of the Dead – also starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, and Ana De La Reguera – will rise up on Netflix later this year!
