Are You Afraid of the Dark tribute film hits this Halloween

I am a big fan of the old school Nickelodeon kid-horror series ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?. Like, a super fan. I own every episode on DVD courtesy of a bootleg collection my girlfriend at the time gave me back in my early twenties. If you haven't seen the series, I suggest you check out an episode called Laughing in the Dark. It involves a clown. And it is genuinely terrifying. That is all I will say.

Anyhow, what I'm here to talk about today is the amazing news that ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? is finally getting a film adaptation! But hold up — make sure to note that this is a fan film. A labor of love. And is totally non-profit for those lawyers listening in. That said, I'm as excited for this fan flick as I would be for an official ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? film.

Well, maybe not… but still it's f*cking cool as hell.

Today we have the teaser poster to share with you guys, which you can check out below. The tribute film will begin shooting June 23rd and is already set for release this October.

We feel this tribute is long overdue. We all grew up on the show and it plays a major role as to why I am a writer today. I did decide to go a darker route with this tribute film, but it will be entertaining for the whole family…and you might even notice some odes to the original series. 

ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? tribute synopsis:

The Midnight Society returns for a new tale of terror. It follows a young boy, Christopher, as he stays for a weekend at his grandpa Jasper's house. What he doesn't know is his grandfather has more than one guest for the weekend.

The ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? tribute film is directed by Nathaniel Ingram & Zac Lockard from a script by Ingram. The film stars Sarah Townsend, Khalil Nisley, Michael Jobe, Mya Cobb, Michael Hodges, Caleb Milby, Briana Looby, Dale Niehaus, Catcher Stair, and Sidney Flack.

TRIVIA: Are You Afraid of the Dark? featured Ryan Gosling, Neve Campbell, Elisha Cuthbert, Mia Kirshner, Jay Baruchel, Hayden Christensen, and Rachel Blanchard (see below) when they were children.
