Anna Kendrick set to star in sci-fi thriller Stowaway

One of the most adorable and lovable actresses out there now (or ever) is Anna Kendrick. The actress has mostly kept away from the horror genre (unless you count TWILIGHT as horror, and let's hope that you don't) but today we have word that she'll be dipping her feet into our beloved genre for an all-new flick soon. Yes, today we have word that Kendrick is all set to star in XYZ Films' upcoming sci-fi thriller STOWAWAY.

The second film from Joe Penna and Ryan Morrisson, the duo behind ARCTIC, begins

Shortly after takeoff, when the crew of a spaceship headed to Mars discovers an accidental stowaway. Too far from Earth to turn back and with resources quickly dwindling, the ship's medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the group consensus that has already decided in favor of a grim outcome.

Okay, so the film isn't set to be straight horror, but I'll take Kendrick in a sci-fi thriller any day. After all, as mentioned above, her genre credits are kinda lacking with roles in LIFE AFTER BETH, THE VOICES, PARANORMAN, and an episode of FEAR ITSELF acting as her only calling cards in our beloved genre. Where's her flagship horror flick, Hollywood? Get on it now!

Joe Penna will direct the film from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Ryan Morrisson, who will also serve as executive producer. XYZ Films will produce alongside Rise Pictures and Augenstein Filmproduktion, with XYZ and CAA Media Finance handling financing and sales at the upcoming American Film Market. I'm interested in this film already and Kendrick is the only current cast. Let's hope the powers that be keep up the good work.
