Yesterday, we discussed the mystery related to the most recently released behind-the-scenes images from ALIEN: COVENANT. Why were the images accompanied by the numbers "220512052104" and "130112062104"? What do these numbers mean? Are they – as some speculate – some kind of microsecond countdown to the release of the first trailer? Are the numbers simply, as Arrow in the Head reader "icon" speculated on the previous article, a futuristic timestamp indicating that the pictures were taken in 2104?
We still don't have an answer to the number mystery, but we do have another image (see below) that was captioned with more numbers. This time we get a glimpse down an Engineer-style hallway. The accompanying number: 185612082104.
Note that this new number is higher than one previously given, 130112062104, which would seem to rule out the idea that this is a countdown…
Directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, ALIEN: COVENANT is a prequel to ALIEN and a sequel to PROMETHEUS.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Katherine Waterson, Danny McBride, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, Noomi Rapace, James Franco, Guy Pearce, and Michael Fassbender star. Fassbender plays two characters, androids David and Walter.
Whatever these numbers mean, the numbers that really matter are those that make up the date of May 19, 2017 – the day when ALIEN: COVENANT will be released in theatres.
