I wasn’t a fan of Ridley Scott’s ALIEN: COVENANT, with my reaction falling along the lines of Eric Walkuski’s 3/10 review, far below Jake Dee’s 9/10. Even though I didn’t like the movie very much, I am a bit of a completist when it comes to film franchises, which means that I will eventually own a copy of COVENANT on DVD/Blu-ray. I have every other ALIEN movie, so I have to have this one as well. I won’t watch it often, but occasionally I probably will give it a viewing during a franchise run-through.
The steelbook edition of ALIEN: COVENANT has been available for pre-order since the week after the movie hit theatres, and now the folks over at AvPGalaxy have gotten their hands on the list of special features that will be included in the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack. It’s clear that 20th Century Fox has put some effort into the presentation, as the disc will contain around 100 minutes of bonus material:
– 12 Deleted and Extended Scenes (17m 58s)
– 5 Featurettes: Meet Walter (2m 19s), Phobos (9m 8s), The Last Supper (4m 36s), The Crossing (2m 32s), Advent (6m 40s)
– Master Class: Ridley Scott (55m 25s)
– Theatrical Trailers
– David’s Illustrations
Add in the
– Audio Commentary by Ridley Scott
and you’ll have to set aside several hours of your day to get through everything the ALIEN: COVENANT home video release will have to offer.
Starring Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, Tess Haubrich, Uli Latukefu, James Franco, Guy Pearce, Noomi Rapace, Andrew Crawford, and Javier Botet, the film tells the following story:
The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
According to Amazon, ALIEN: COVENANT hits DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD on August 15th.
