Back in April we told you about a UK horror flick heading into production titled THE LAST SHOWING, coming to us from writer/director Phil Hawkins. We later followed up the inital story with the news that sales rights to the flick had been picked up by Simon Crowe's SC Films, and today we have some interesting casting news as Screen Daily is reporting that genre icon Robert Englund has joined the growing cast of the film which includes Keith Allen (SHALLOW GRAVE), Malachi Kirby, Finn Jones ("Game of Thrones") and Emily Berrington.
THE LAST SHOWING is from an original script by writer-director Hawkins, marking his third feature. Former 20th Century Fox executive Alexandra Baranska is producing.
The story centres on young couple Martin (Jones) and Allie (Berrington) who head to their local cinema to see the late night horror show but unwittingly become stars of their own horror story.
Englund will play a former projectionist named Stuart who has been demoted by advancing technology and exacts his vengence on a generation that no longer requires his skills.
Sounds like we could be in for a treat with THE LAST SHOWING, so we'll keep you updated with news regarding the flick as we hear it!
