Horror goes tropical in family friendly Hallowaiian: Adventure Hawaii

Twenty years ago, Warner Bros. was trying to develop a sequel to Tim Burton's BEETLEJUICE that was titled BEETLEJUICE GOES HAWAIIAN. Obviously, that movie never happened, and if Beetlejuice isn't going to visit the fiftieth state then other supernatural beings are going to have to. Filling the void is the family friendly animated film HALLOWAIIAN: ADVENTURE HAWAII, which Viva Pictures has just acquired for distribution in North America.

Directed by Sean Patrick O'Reilly from a screenplay by David Swift, Scott Owen, and Steven Meier, HALLOWAIIAN features vocal performances by Teilor Grubbs, Mark Dacascos, Tia Carerre, and Kiefer O'Reilly.

Set on the islands of Hawaii one Halloween, the film follows three friends who must use local legends to restore peace to their home after releasing a mythical monster.

That mythical monster can be seen in the promotional art, and it's a giant creature with a pineapple jack-o-lantern head. The kid characters on the art don't seem too concerned that there's a rampaging monster behind them… and I don't know what those little critters they're hanging out with are.

HALLOWAIIAN: ADVENTURE HAWAII was produced by Erick Dickens of Fresh Baked Films and Page Feldman of Scoutabout Entertainment. SC Films' Simon Crowe served as executive producer with Matt Joynes and Chad Donvito.

Viva is planning a third quarter 2018 release for the film in North America, and it would seem like October is the month to aim for. SC Films International will be presenting the film to buyers from other territories at the European Film Market in Berlin.
