Hoops, Netflix, canceled

Well, if you enjoyed the first season of Netflix's animated comedy Hoops, I hope you savoured it because that's all you'll get. According to Variety, Netflix has canceled Hoops after just one season.

The animated comedy series featured the voice of Jake Johnson (Jurassic World) as Coach Ben Hopkins, a "pathetic, angry, foul-mouthed coach desperate to prove himself, but always looking for an easy way to get the job done." The series centered around the hot-headed, foul-mouthed high-school basketball coach who believes that turning around his god-awful team will take him to the big leagues and turn his miserable life around. In addition to Johnson, Hoops also featured the voices of Rob Riggle, Natasha Leggero, Ron Funches, Cleo King, and A.D. Miles. Judging by the rather scathing reviews that Hoops received, with many critics calling it aimlessly crude, the cancellation doesn't exactly come as a huge surprise. Even with Hoops no longer in play, Netflix still has a number of animated comedies on their slate, including Big Mouth, Disenchanted, and F is for Family. Any fans of Hoops out there disappointed by this news?
