New Topher Grace comedy Home Economics ordered at ABC

Topher Grace is heading back to TV! The actor, who portrayed Eric Forman for eight seasons on That '70s Show, will headline a new ABC comedy called Home Economics. The network has given the show a series order that is expected to debut in the spring of 2021.

Home Economics is a single-camera comedy that is inspired by the life of writer and executive producer Michael Colton. The series will take a look at the heartwarming yet super-uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship among three adult siblings. One represents the 1 percent, the other represents the middle-class while sibling number three is barely holding on. The show also stars Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza, Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Starr Curet, Chloe Jo Roundtree, and JeCobi Swain.

This will mark the network's first comedy pilot handed a series order during a very unprecedented year for network TV due to the pandemic. ABC did have other comedy orders (Call Your Mother and Rebel) but they went straight to series without the benefit of the network seeing a pilot because the usual pilot season was pushed back due to the productions having to go dark when COVID-19 hit. ABC has two other outstanding comedy pilots that are waiting for news of when they'll likely debut and they include Work Wife, a single-camera comedy inspired by the real-life partnerships of longtime friends and Live with Kelly & Ryan co-stars Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest, and Kids Matter Now, a multi-camera comedy about a diva boss.
