Macaulay Culkin denies he’s involved in the Home Alone reboot

Disney released the first trailer for Home Sweet Home Alone yesterday, their upcoming Home Alone reboot that will debut on Disney+ next month. Much like the original film, Home Sweet Home Alone centers on a young boy who is accidently left at home by himself for the holidays when his family goes on a trip to Tokyo, Japan. When a married couple attempt to rob his home, he must do whatever it takes to defend it.

The original film (and the first sequel) starred Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister and there had been rumours that he might be involved in the Home Alone reboot, but the actor took to Twitter to shoot those rumours down.

Hey y’all. Just a heads up since I’ve been getting this question a lot today: I am NOT in the new Home Alone reboot,” Macaulay Culkin wrote. “I wish all involved the best of luck though.” Although Culkin isn’t involved in the Home Alone reboot, Devin Ratray, who played Buzz McCallister in the first two films, will appear in the project. Home Sweet Home Alone stars Archie Yates, Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell.

The official synopsis for Home Sweet Home Alone:

Max Mercer is a mischievous and resourceful young boy who has been left behind while his family is in Japan for the holidays. So when a married couple attempting to retrieve a priceless heirloom set their sights on the Mercer family’s home, it is up to Max to protect it from the trespassers…and he will do whatever it takes to keep them out. Hilarious hijinks of epic proportions ensue, but despite the absolute chaos, Max comes to realize that there really is no place like home sweet home.

Home Sweet Home Alone will debut on Disney+ on November 12, 2021.
